Wrights Opticians – Meet The Team

Sarah Wright

Owner / Director / Qualified Dispensing Optician / Contact Lens Specialist

I remember playing under the stairs, aged five, whilst watching my dear dad, Bob Wright, dispense glasses here at Chapel Brow!! Mum talked me into becoming a ‘Saturday Girl’ aged 18, when she needed an extra pair of hands after dad suddenly passed away aged only 59. From that I realised how interesting optics was and decided to train as a Qualified Dispensing Optician and Contact Lens specialist.
That was some 31 years ago and I still find the whole profession fascinating and challenging, with new technology, new lens types, new fashions, coming out all the time. I love the fact that I am in the ‘service Industry’, which is what our clients come back for time and again. We can really help people in this industry. I am really proud to be part of a business which has survived and thrived through thick and thin for 60 years here in Leyland.

Charlotte Ashworth

Qualified Dispensing Optician / Practice Manager

I came to Wrights pretty much fresh from high school over 25 years ago, having done really well with maths and sciences. I have been in many roles here, from book-keeper to receptionist and decided to become a Qualified Dispensing Optician passing the degree course in 2015. My passion for looking after people is what inspires me to be the best Optician I can be. I would like to think that everyone who comes to Wrights as a patient and customer, feels they get a five star service. A lot of our clients become good friends, returning year after year.

Steven Frankel

Optometrist

Steve has now been with us at Wrights for 9 years and his ‘reputation’ has grown from strength to strength. Regularly described by our patients as ‘the best Optometrist ever’, his calm and reassuring demeanour combined with over 35 years of clinical skills and his attention to detail, really do ‘blow people away’. He has built up quite a fan club at Wright’s, with patients happy to wait to see him, as his diary is always full.

David Wood

Optometrist

David joined Wrights Opticians a mere 6 years ago and is a super chilled and easy going clinician. David runs our ‘home visit’ eye exam service and enjoys keeping up to date with new developments in the optics industry. As an ex-naval submarine officer, his running joke is that he has gone from ‘one small dark room, to another’ – optics was the perfect choice for his second career. Although with over 20 years as an optometrist under his belt by now, he is a very experienced member of our team.

Yvonne Carter

Receptionist

Yvonne is Wrights front of house lady! Receptionist extraordinaire, she is always ready with a smile and a cup of tea and helping hand if anyone needs it.

Syed Mahmood

Audiologist

Introducing Syed Mahmood, our new audiologist – whilst he is new to Wrights Opticians, Syed certainly isn’t new to hearing care, having many years of experience in his chosen profession. Syed became interested in audiology following a close family member having an accident involving the inner ear. This led him to study and qualify in this fascinating subject. Syed has worked mainly at independent hearing care practices since he qualified. Syed is knowledgeable and kind and dedicated to giving our patients the best service possible and makes a great addition to the team here at Wrights Opticians, Leyland.

Adnan Undre

Locum Optometrist

Can you please give a warm welcome our lovely new locum optometrist – Adnan Undre. Steven and David are staying, fear not.

Here’s what Adnan has to say about himself – ‘My name is Adnan, I qualified in 2008 doing my training in Leyland at what was previously David Burns Opticians. Since then I have worked throughout the sector, favouring independent practice. My clinical interests are glaucoma and children’s eyecare, in which I have done post graduate training. Outside of work I enjoy time with my two children, and my wife. I also enjoy tinkering with cars to my wife’s discontent.’ We are so pleased to have Adnan sight testing here Wrights Opticians Leyland. He’s already a brilliant asset to our (already brilliant) team.’
